Harold L. Noe, age 76, of Council Bluffs, passeed away on December 18, 2008, at Risen Son Christian Village after a battle with Parkinsons.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and a counselor to many.

Harold was born December 23, 1931, in Danbury, Neb. He was the son of Hayden and Vera (Williams) Noe. Harold was raised in Danbury and later moved to North Platte, Neb., graduating from North Platte High School.

Harold was an Eagle scout at the age of 14. After graduating from high school he attended Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tenn., and became a Christian Minister. He met his wife Barbara J. Truax at college and they married on July 26, 1953. Harold later earned his masters degree from Johnson Bible College. Harold also attended Drew University and received his doctorate of Theology, later being called Dr. Noe.

Harold was a minister in several states, Tennessee, West Virginia, North Carolina, Virginia and Iowa and also holding several yearly revival meetings across America. While in West Virginia he started an interest in learning sign language and starting church services for the deaf. He had a local tv show in Charleston called Talking Hands, working with Keith Hamilton a (deacon) with deaf parents. When moving to North Carolina he continued to have an interest in preaching to the deaf in addition to the hearing church he traveled to Virginia and held Sunday afternoon services. He later devoted himself full time in working with the deaf after moving to Iowa. He worked at Deaf Missions and helped develop the "Omega Project", which translated the Bible into American Sign Language (ASL) via Video Tape. The new Testament is completed and the Old Testament is still being worked on. Harold retired from Deaf Missions in June 2002.

Harold visited the Middle East "Holy Land" taking 36 tours after his cousin Charles was killed in "No Mans Land" in 1955. He shared his Bible knowledge and historical insight with those who traveled with him on these tours. Harold was instrumental in working with George Awward in helping start a Christian Church in Ramallah. Today there are more Christian Churches that have sprung up among the Arab population.

Harold had a passion for helping the helpless (the unborn) and wanted to stop abortions and encourage adoption or keeping the baby. He helped with "voices for life" and in helping with Gabriel's Corner Crisis Pregnancy Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include wife Barbara and his sister, Rozanna Truax and husband Dan (Arizona); 4 children and their spouses, Ed and Jeri Mooberry (Wisconsin), Kevin and Rebecca VonWeihe (Iowa), Tim Saigh and Chris Noe (Iowa), James and Rebecca Noe (Nebraska); 13 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.

Harold loved and lived the Lord. We celebrate his being perfect and well with the Lord Now.

Not sure what to say?

Harold, seemingly always calm and always took time out to see you and talk. His heart with God, and although it is hard to let go, he is celebrating with God now. I was a student at Deaf Missions some years ago and thankful to have known him. Greatest blessings to you all.

Sending my love and prayers to your family. I have wonderful memories of you all! I remember all the Sunday afternoons I spent with Chris and the great grilled cheese sandwiches Barbara made! All of you were special friends to our family. It's amazing how many lives Harold and his ministry has touched. May God bless you all.
Much love and friendship!

Dear Barbara and Precious Family,
Jim and I send our deepest and heartfelt sympathies in hearing of Harold's passing. I had the joy of working with Harold at Deaf Missions. Jim and I also had the greatest vacation of a lifetime when we went to Israel with Harold in 1996. We will miss 'God's true Gentleman'.
Our love and prayers,

Barbara and family,

We want to express our condolences to you in this your time of sorrow in the loss of Harold. He was an instrumental part of the Christian lives of our entire family and we rejoice that he is now in Heaven.

To the Family of Dr. Harold Noe:
When I received word of Dr. Noe's passing from this life from Bro. Jim Landrum, my mind flooded with many wonderful memories and I said a prayer for his family. I was a student at JBC at the same time as Harold, and I remember him as a dedicated student and an excellent preacher of the Word. He was one of God's best servants of the Word and to people. He contributed so much to the Kingdom of God especially to those with hearing problems. I have no doubt...

My deepest sympathy is extended to Barbara, Jeri, Becky, Chris, James, and their families. I have known Harold for most of my life and have been blessed by his friendship. He touched so many lives in so many ways. We will keep him near in our hearts and our memory. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time. I share your sorrow.
