Not sure what to say?

I last saw Pete at my 25th reunion in 1978. He was very pleased that his Physics class had led me into engineering and navy Nuclear power training.
i also have a daughter that is a High School Chemistry teacher. I like to think that he is somewhat responsible for that.
He will be in my prayers.

Rockhurst Class of '53.

Pete was a kind gentleman who helped me so much when I was teaching at Rockhurst. I am so grateful to have known him and been able to work with him. He was truly an inspiration. I had seen him often recently walking his dog on the Brookside trail - I will miss him. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers at this time.

Mr. Petersen never taught a single class that included me. However, I learned prudence and foresight from him almost every day I spent at Rockhurst High School. He moderated a loosely organized group called the "light crew" with good looks, skill and intelligence. His light crew handled everything from theater lighting to scoreboards.
Mr. Petersen let us tackle unreasonably large tasks, and then he guided us to success when everthing fell apart just before show time. That was one way he...

Dear Vivian: We were in Warsaw MO when we heard of Pete's passing, and so sorry we were unable to be in town for the services. Although we've been gone from 58th Terr. quite a long time, we have many good memories of Pete and your whole family. I hope everyone is well as can be expected at this time. Know our thoughts & prayers are with you and the children. Love, Jackie & Jerry Thurston.

Mrs Peterson, I am youngest on out of the 10 kids that lived nest door (Annie). My mom read of your loss last weekend. My mind quickly went back to the times on 58th st. Though I am older and alot taller then your Honeysuckle fence on 58th, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your 8 kids. Please know accept this from all the Thurstons.
Peace, and love with you.
Annie Thurston

I am sorry to hear of your (and our) loss. Mr. Petersen was one of the best teachers I ever had the pleasure of studying under. Class of '65.

My prayers are with the entire family during this time of loss. I am proud to say I am a former Pete student and he is part of the motivation that brought me back to work at Rockhurst.

The Petersen family,
I am sad to hear of Pete's passing. I am proud to have inherited one of his many legacies at Rockhurst High School. He will always be remembered by me as the "Founder of Computer Science" at Rockhurst.
God bless Pete, his wonderful wife Vivian, and all of the Petersen family as they deal with the loss of such a great man.
He is with God.

To The Petersen Family,
I am sorry for your lost. Mr. Petersen was a great teacher and role model for many years at RHS. Not only did he teach me, he also taught my father and brother. We often spoke of the great teachers we had at Rockhurst and he was always on the list. I remember him helping Coach Davis with all of the audio equipment for games. Coach never could get it to work but Mr. Petersen always could find a way. I often saw him walking down the Brookside trail with his...
