Not sure what to say?

Doctor Rosen was one of my favorite professors when I was a student at BYU. My first class with him was Introduction of Spanish Literature. He required us to memorize several schematic pages of Spanish authors, poets and dramatists and their works as part of our final exam. It was hard work and I learned a lot. I think he felt sorry for us because he left during the exam and returned with pastries for the entire class. I later had him as my teacher in Spanish Golden Age prose. We read the...

Hal was my mentor, colleague and friend. Without his generous invitations and gentle kindness I would not have pursued the career I have loved for 36 years. John Rosenberg

Hal was a good mentor to me as an undergraduate. He got me started in Sigma Delta Pi, the National Spanish Honor Society. After I joined the
BYU Spanish Department, I spoke with Hal (who had by then retired) every year at the department dinner. He always had a smile and a twinkle in his eye. He also attended important lectures and events over the years. I am very grateful to have known him.

My prayers go out to your family at this time. I am so grateful for the time that I got to spend with Harold. He was so kind to me and always so grateful for anything that was done for him. He always made me feel special. We had some great conversations about books. He loved to go on drives and I enjoyed his commentary along the way. I will miss him.
