Harold F. Shade

Harold F. Shade, 95, a resident of Crystal Lake for more than 60 years, was born Aug. 13, 1913 in Evanston, Illinois, and died July 25, 2009 at Centegra Memorial Hospital in Woodstock, Illinois of natural causes. Harold graduated from Evanston Township High School and attended Northwestern University. His long and distinguished business career included service as treasurer of Haber Manufacturing Corporation, President of Wire Cloth Products, and CFO of Cosmetique. He was a member of the Illinois Society of CPAs and American Institute of CPAs.
Harold enjoyed sports, especially baseball. He played semi-professional baseball in Evanston and was an avid Cub fan. He held season tickets to the Bears and the
Cardinals continuously from 1940. He and his wife, Adgie, were known to go to a Bear game and a Blackhawk game on the same Sunday with only a break for dinner. He enjoyed golf and was a member at
Medinah Country Club as well as Crystal Lake Country Club. He was one of the
oldest members of the Union League Club of Chicago and supported the Boys and Girls Club Foundation as well as the Civic and Arts Foundation of the Union League. He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Adgie; their three children, Suzanne Shade of Chicago, David Shade (Charlotte) of Crystal Lake and John Shade of Crystal Lake; and four grandchildren, Lisa Shade of Chicago, David, Jr. (Amy) Shade of Chicago, Paul (Heidi) Shade of Crystal Lake and Julia Shade of Marengo. A private memorial
service was held in Crystal Lake on Aug. 1. Memorials in Harold's name may be made to The Salvation Army, 290 Crystal Lake Ave., Crystal Lake, IL 60014-5847.
