HAROLD "BUD" EDWIN SHEPHERD Harold "Bud" Edwin Shepherd, 85, Kansas City, Mo., passed away surrounded by his family Thursday, December 18, 2014. "Bud," as Harold was known all of his life was born on Jan. 9, 1929, in Weeping Water, Neb., to Theodore Frank and Thelma Ellen (Cappen) Shepherd. The family lived in Lincoln, Neb., for a few years before moving to Kansas City. Bud retired from Graham Ship-By-Truck, and was a member of Teamsters Local #41 for 45 years. He enjoyed square dancing, camping and traveling. He was a member of the Early Ford V-8 Club and owned four Fords made between 1946 and 1952 at the time of his death. Bud is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Thelma Shepherd, his loving wife, Mary Clara (Stevens) Shepherd, one brother, Theodore Alfred Shepherd and one sister, Mary Lou Conners. Survivors include his four sons, Mike Shepherd and wife Vika of Olathe, Kan., Gerald Shepherd and wife Jill of Greenwood, Mo., Dennis Shepherd and wife Lee of Lone Jack, Mo., Donald Shepherd and wife Clarice of Osceola, Mo.; daughter, Susan Murphy and husband John of Oak Grove, Mo.; and sister, Beverly Ohnstad and husband Garland of Casper, Wyo. Left behind to cherish his memory are his 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 East Loula Street, Olathe, Kan. Interment in Aubry Cemetery, Stilwell, Kan. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
