Not sure what to say?

Rogue Beer has a Nutbrown Ale with a person´s face on the bottle. The person looked like Hal, it´s Howard´s favorite beer, and we will always and forever call it Hal Beer. (look it up) Hal was one of the sweetest people I´ve ever met. We loved Hal and still miss him.

Hal was a good Godly man. He walked his faith every day. I dont think Ive ever known such a sweet and loving man. His love and affection for my brother was inspiring. He was always concerned for Howards health and well-being. He will never be forgotten. The world lost a good one.

Hal, you were the best boss anyone could ever ask for. I was newly married back when I started working for Slater Construction in the late 90's. I've been married for 23 years and throughout those years, I have randomly stopped by to see Hal at Slater Construction. It was God speaking to me this last time I came see you this summer so you could meet my 7 year old daughter. I was driving past Cleveland High School and God spoke to me and said you should stop by and see Hal. I remember you...

Rest in peace Hal. Love and prayers for you Kathy and the family.

Hal was a good and very kind man. We who worked together in the early 1970s to stage Shakespeare-in-the-Park have wonderful memories of him and will miss him dearly.

Sweet, gentle, kind, generous and Godly, Hal. The world was so much better with you in it! We are so very sad to have to say good bye. Ellen and Paul Holladay

Oh,my heart goes out to all of you. Hal, I love you. Thank you for being in the World. Such beauty.

Marci

We will miss you "Mr Good Guy"

With Deepest Sympathy to the Family

Gently saddened by Hal's passing. He was the first to employ me when I arrived in Portland in 1976, and I recall him as a kind man with a flair for art, a dedication to good work, and a bright wit. He shared more than one sentiment with me that has lasted my life since; I will remember Hal warmly, and with a smile.
