Not sure what to say?

Our family came up to Anchorage from Redmond, WA because my stepfather, Bill Beck, worked as the General Manager for Stack Steel in Anchorage in the 70s. The project everyone was working on was the Alaska Pipeline. He always spoke very highly of Harold Stack and enjoyed the work and the people of the company. I am most thankful because Stack Steel brought us to the magnificent state of Alaska, where I currently live. My condolences to the family on his passing.

Wonderful memories of a very encouraging, friendly and worldly friend. Many laughs and memories at the SYC and making fun of amateur tennis professionals at Windermere Park. Your advice and friendship will always be remembered in the years to come. Godspeed, Friend

I worked at stack steel company of Alaska back in the 1970s and 80s until it closed

my father William J Smith was the head machinist at their ANCHORAGE shop location and was a very good friend of Harold.

I regret not coming over to see Pa Stack over the last few years. My Grandfather Monte Holm knew Pa and was a very good friend of Joshua Green(People's bank)as well. I am a 3rd generation Steel service center owner and use the "Stack Steel" book everyday. My deepest condolences to the Stack family and grace and peace during this time. Pa Stack will always be a hero and icon to me in this business! Steven W. Rimple - Moses Lake Steel Supply/ Columbia River Steel

Dear Stack Family,

My name is Cope Copeland a longtime employee in the burning department of Stack Steel.

Harold would occasionally come out into the warehouse for a short chat. One weekend Dorothy and I took our four children swimming at Golden Gardens. A P I Photographer took a picture of them walking out of the water holding hands. Harold came out into the warehouse the next morning and presented the picture to me.

I always admired his many accomplishments.

So...

I worked a temp job at the front desk of the hi rise he lived in and each time I saw him....usually going out with several family members...he'd look at me and say, "Holdin' up the fort?", always with a smile. I liked him instantly and sorry to see him go, but I'm glad he had a healthy long life and sympathies to his good family.
