Mr. Harold N. Tilton, Jr., 89, of Cedar St., Tilton, died at Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen on Jan. 6, 2006.

He was born in Maplewood, Mass. On Oct. 28, 1916 the son of Harold N. And Nellie (Lockwood) Tilton, Sr. He was raised on Flaghole Rd. in East Andover and later resided in Franklin before moving to Tilton in 1940.

While living in Franklin, Mr. Tilton was a member of the Franklin Fire Dept. Ladder Co.#1. For 38 years, he was employed by The State of NH Highway Dept. as a supervisor/patrolman and was a member of the State Employees Assn. Mr. Tilton enjoyed gardening and woodworking at his home. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Sanbornton.

Family members include his wife of 57 years, Lillian (Durgin) Tilton of Tilton, 3 children: Ruth E. Walter of Chichester, Susan M. Dupuis of Meredith, and Raymond H. Tilton of Tilton, 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 4 sisters: Dorothy Tilton of Medford, Mass., Gerry Arel of Northfield, Marion Panerallo of Malden, Mass., and Thelma Moses of Sanbornton, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Etta (Barnes) Tilton, 3 sisters: Marie Crane, Grace Page, and Eldora Heath, 3 bros.: Leslie Tilton, Wilfred Tilton, and Robert Tilton.

Visiting hours will be held Monday, Jan.9th from 2-4 and 7-9 at Paquette-Neun Funeral Home, 104 Park St., Northfield. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Jan. 10th at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Scott Manning officiating. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Tilton.

Mr. Tilton was a wonderful man who will be greatly missed by many people.

I will never forget his neverending smile, his sense of humor, his patriotism and his garden fresh vegetables!
