Harold J. Wambold, Sr., 88, of Bangor, PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2022, with his family by his side, at Weston Rehab. and Nursing Center of Hellertown.


Harold was born in Nazareth, PA on July 21, 1934, a son of the late Russell H. Wambold, Sr., and Mae (Bruch) Wambold.


He was the husband of Sandra J. (Hunt) Wambold. Together they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this past August.


Harold was a 1952 graduate of Nazareth High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1956 – 1959 as a driver for the Generals. Harold was employed at the former Schaible's Bakery and Maier's Bakery in Easton, PA, for 30 years, until retiring in 1997.  After retiring in 1997, Harold drove for many car dealerships. Harold enjoyed playing pinochle at East Lawn Fire House where he was a social member.  He was a lifetime member of Washington Township Fire Co. He also enjoyed going to carnivals where he could be found selling raffle tickets for the Fire Company. He was a member of the Suburban Dart league since 1974, playing for St. John’s UCC in Nazareth. He was also Historian for this league.


He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bangor, PA, where he
served as sexton for 19 years.


In addition to his wife, Sandra, Harold is survived by his children Karen Lambert of Easton, Tammy Labar and her husband Keith of Mt Bethel, Harold J. Wambold, Jr. and wife Janice, Betty Jennings and her companion John Griffin of New Jersey and Wendy L Szarek and her husband Frank of Slatington. His grandchildren Tristan, Natasha, Vanessa, Sean, and Jacey as well as his great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by Son-in-law Timothy Lambert, grandchildren, Taylor Lambert, and Nicole Labar, Daughter Barbra "Barbie" (Ribble) Hess, and a great-granddaughter. He was also predeceased by his brothers, Allen, Asher, Grover, Russell Wambold Jr., and sister Erma Eckhart.


Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, November 11th at The Washington Banquet Facility, 920 Washington Blvd., Bangor, PA with Rev. Franklin Stinner officiating. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, November 10th and from 10 to 11 AM on Friday, November 11th at The Washington Banquet Facility in Bangor, PA. Burial will be held at Northampton Memorial Shrine in Easton, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gaffney Parsons Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc, Bangor, PA.
