Harold Weiss Obituary

Long-time El Pasoan and World War II veteran, Harold Weiss, passed gently into that good night on December 29, 2012. Born in East St. Louis, Illinois in 1917, Harold moved to El Paso as a young boy with his parents, Rose and Morris, and seven siblings. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He owned Ellis Brothers, one of El Paso's first office supply stores. In retirement, Harold and his wife, Henrietta, visited such exotic locales as Mozambique, Tahiti, Russia and Turkey. Harold personified "The Greatest Generation". He treated all he met with dignity, respect and humor, a true gentleman and patriot. He is predeceased by his stepson, Gerard Neumann, his parents and his seven siblings. Harold's wife of 64 years, Henrietta, will forever cherish his memory along with his children, Janice and Michael, his stepson, Jack Neumann, many nieces and nephews and their children, step-grandchildren, Dr. Bill Neumann, Julia Neumann and Dr. Dara Neumann Kessler and children, Miles and E.J. The Weiss family would like to thank the caregivers who provided assistance to Harold in his journey: Helen, Irma and Claudia (Home Instead) and Jamie and Ophelia (Odyssey Hospice). In lieu of flowers, donations in Harold's name can be made to Hospice of El Paso, Inc: 1440 Miracle Way, El Paso, TX 79925. My deepest sympathy is extended to Janice and Henrietta. I have such vivid memories of going to your house on Las Vegas Dr. when we were kids, and Harold greeting me with a smile...and usually a humorous quip or two.
Thoughts go out to you all...Debbie Kern

What an honor to have known Harold Weiss! A man of integrity and strength. The stories I have heard from my friends, Henrietta and Janice, overflow with words of praise to this man they called "husband" and "father".
He always had a smile and a cheerful greeting -- a very optimistic soul who will be greatly missed!
