Not sure what to say?

I worked for Spike for 12 1/2 years as his assistant. As I told him several years ago when talking to him on the phone, working for him taught me so much. I had many hats that I wore and each event taught me something special. My success in being an assistant to a CEO came from Spike. There wasn't much that we didn't do together that didn't turn out successful. I was a part of watching his four sons and his daughter grow up, graduate high school and college. He was very proud of them...

It was my great honor to know Spike, and especially to be photographic witness to his family, his marriage to Gail and his Forum group. Spike's trust in me to create the albums for these events was humbling, as Spike created the best memory albums I have ever seen. So detailed. His intentions always clear. I miss you Spike, but you've left with me an indelible mark. Thank you.

I came to know Spike and Mary while dating their late daughter Karen. His love of family was evident in all that he did, and I am grateful for having known him. I am especially grateful for his leadership of our beloved alma mater, Duke University. May his memory be a blessing. -David Rollins, Baton Rouge
