Harriet Lois Culver

I´m so sorry to hear about Harriet´s passing. I worked for her at Culver Pictures when I was on home on holidays from college, knowing her first as a friend of my mother, Alice, then as a friend of mine. We got to see each other at various conventions and chatted online. She was a wonderful supporter of my small publishing company and a delight to talk to and I shall miss her.

I met Harriet freshman year at Vassar and we became close friends. So bright, so introspective, such a delight to know. After college, Harriet used to follow me to the horse shows (I competed hunters on the show circuit on the East Coast) and would sit ringside watching the action. In early June, at our 50th reunion, we fondly reminisced about that, and she told me those were some of the best times of her life. Rest in peace, Harriet. You are sorely missed.

Picture is of Harriet and some friends at her Vassar College 50th reunion. She was one of the most interesting and brave women I have ever met. Imagine at 22 having your mother die and suddenly being responsible for running a major business. (Her father had died sometime before.). Brilliant woman!
