Harriet E. LaBarre, 89, of Bangor, passed away on Wednesday, October 16th, 2013 at Gracedale, Northampton County Home, Nazareth. Born: Harriet was born on March 21, 1924, in Bangor, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Ester (Seabold) Roberts. Personal: Harriet was the wife of the late Ray C. LaBarre, who died in 2002. She was employed as a secretary at the former North Bangor Slate Co. in Bangor, PA, until retiring in 2000. Harriet was a 1941 graduate of Bangor High School. Harriet was the "Ultimate" Caregiver. She wasn't happy if she wasn't trying to get you something and seeing if you wanted just a little bit more to eat or drink (her macaroni salad was "The Best"). She had a wonderful smile that made you feel great! Memberships: She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bangor. Survivors: Harriet and Ray were the proud parents of 3 sons Raymond LaBarre and his wife Kathy, Ronald LaBarre and his wife Cheryl, Dennis LaBarre and his wife Amy. They were the proud grandparents of 6 grandchildren Melanie Manicke and her husband Adam, Jarod LaBarre and his companion Stacey Gerstenberg, Heather Heaney and her husband John, Sgt. Travis LaBarre, Andrea Bremer and her husband Hans, and Ryan LaBarre and his wife April and proud great grandparents of 4 great grandchildren Joshua and Claire Manicke, and Ryder and Kane LaBarre, and a half sister Sandra Sadowski. In addition to her parents and husband, Harriet was preceded in death by a sister Madge Miller, and a brother William Roberts. Services: Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Monday, October 21, 2013 in the James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, 314 S. First Street, Bangor, PA. Call Monday Noon - 1 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Bangor, PA. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gracedale, 2 Gracedale Ave., Nazareth, PA 18064. Harriet fought a hard fight against Dementia and Alzheimer's. In the End, she passed peacefully in her sleep. Mom! Gram! Grammy! Aunt Harriet! Sis! All our Love! Your Family...

Aunt Harriet was a gem. She always made us feel special. I remember her infectious laugh and wonderful times spent in her kitchen as children. God bless you Raymond, Ronnie and Dennis. I think of you all often.
