SHE WILL BE MISSED DEARLY.

I had the honor of beng an intern this past summer. Mrs. Lewis opened the world for me and showed me what being a Jew really means. She will be missed.

Dear Ila Jean, Nancy and Alan, it's hard to express what has not been said already but I'll try. Your mother was an truly an icon, a remarkable woman. She was full of life and she was not going to let her physical handicapp get in the way of her being a 'good deed doer'. She touched so many peoples lives with her caring and generosity
that she will truly be missed. I will miss her alot. We will all miss her alot. You are all very special to have had such a wonderful person you can call...

Mrs Lewis will always be remembered
and I will keep her in my prayers along with your entire family. She
was quite a lady.

On Yom Kippur, a Day of Atonement, I think of Harriet Lewis. Two summer's ago, I served with 25 other students as a Lewis Summer Intern in the city of Chicago. Thanks to the contributions Harriet Lewis and the Lewis family made to this internship, all of our lives have changed for the better. The Lewis internship re-ignited the flame of Judaism in my heart, and inspired me to give back more to my Jewish community on campus at the University of Illinois, and the community as a whole. I...
