Colonel Harry Winston Candler, Jr. went to be with The Lord on May 12, 2020.

He was born January 5, 1938 at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He attended Central Catholic High school, was a 1960 graduate of Texas A&M, and knew every Aggie joke in the book. He spent 25 years in the Army and his...

Not sure what to say?

Joe, as I knew him, landed in the fog in a helicopter across the street from my home in Chesterland, OH in the 1960s. My mother invited Joe in for coffee and to make a phone call, and the rest is history. I was a little kid, but over the years, he taught me about computers, helicopters, and honor. He was always my hero, even though we did not always see eye to eye. I can't believe he is gone.

Col Candler was the professor of military science at UT Arlington when I was a ROTC cadet. He was an imposing figure with his amazing military credentials. He was a tremendous inspiration to everyone who served under his leadership. Our country owes him a tremendous debt of gratitude.

Colonel Candler was my unit commander during my 2nd tour in Vietnam. He was a good commander and I have fond memories of my time with him there. May he rest in peace.

What can you say about the most memorable man you've ever known. Harry was my boss, my friend, my supporter and I loved him dearly. He was always there for everyone who worked with him and knew him. I missed him when he moved back to Texas to be with his family, but we stayed in touch. He never forgot a birthday or would send me a card for no special reason. I really miss you now, but I'll see you again. RIP. Nurse Deb

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. So sorry for your loss. Harry hired me at Orlando Urology and I had the pleasure of working with him for about 6 years. I will always remember his crazy jokes he started us off with each morning. He was a good man. He will be missed by many. RIP my friend, Debbie Julien
