Harry "Sonny" Guilford Jr.

Harry "Sonny" K. Guilford Jr., 76, of Freeport, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21, at the Second Missionary Baptist Church. A visitation will occur from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at the Church on Tuesday. Following the funeral service, cremation rites will be accorded with burial at a later date at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements. Sonny was born March 26, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Harry and Hazel (Walker) Guilford Sr. Upon his graduation from High School, Sonny would ultimately work as a machinist for B. Hellers & Company in Bedford Park, Illinois for many years. Sonny was a member of the Cross Roads Community Church – Freeport Campus in Freeport, Illinois. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and playing games of chance. He also loved his dog, "Nino Brown". Above all, he loved his entire family very much and will be greatly missed. Sonny is survived by his children – Harriet (Troy) Johnson of Acworth, GA Lawanda (Todd) Bostic-Smith of Freeport, Il Maurice (Erica) Bolden of Cedar Rapids, IA and Jalena Heard of Freeport, IL; seventeen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; three sisters – Juanita, Alberta and Antoinette; special friend – Patrice Bolden of Clinton, IA; with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding Sonny in death were his parents and two sisters. Memorials made can be directed to the wishes of the family.
