HARRY C. HARDEE was born 1937 raised in the Dallas, Texas area, was the son of a bus driver. He rose to be a PHD professional engineer scientist and professor by studying at UT Austin, MIT, and NMSU. Harry’s career work spanned 29 years at Sandia National Laboratory, making a difference to national security during the cold war, researching geothermal energy during the 1970’s energy crisis, finally retiring as a division leader during the early 1990’s from Sandia to start a second career as an NMSU Thermodynamics Professor and electrical interconnection researcher.
He served NMSU for 20 years. Lastly after retiring from NMSU, Harry served on the Las Cruces utilities commission. Some of Harry’s spare time hobbies: tinkering with & collecting jukeboxes, pinball machines and a few Chevy Corvettes. Harry raised three children with his wife Loye in Albuquerque before moving to Las Cruces.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Loye, three children, and two grandchildren. Harry passed away peacefully at his home in Las Cruces, New Mexico November 9th, 2022 with wife and adult children at his side.
