Not sure what to say?

Barbara and Matt: As you know, we met your parents in Memphis, Tennessee 41 years ago. Barbara, you were only two months old; we became close friends and remained so over these many years. We shared many good times and some vacations together. Joe and Herb had another common bond - both graduated from Virginia Tech and loved the Hokies. Joe also loved good food - he always made it a point to eat Memphis barbeque, usually at the Commissary. He loved to laugh and tell stories. He loved...

Mathew and Barbara:
I am the daughter of Ruth, your dad's sister. I was saddened and surprised to learn of Uncle Joe's death. When I think of him, it brings back fond childhood memories. He was one of my favorite uncles and I always enjoyed his visits. He used to live with us when I was little. He would make me laugh especially when he would do his "Elvis" step, rake his fingers through his slicked back hair and say,"Kooky,Kooky, lend me your comb". I will miss Uncle Joe and his humor....

My condolences to the family. I am a son of Robert Lawler. I am one of the twins and was named with respect to your father. He was my uncle Joe.

Joseph Kelley Lawler

Joe lived with us for a while when he was going to school. He was like having a big brother. We played some baseball and football. He and my mom Ruth (his sister) were very close. He came to visit them (Ruth and Goat) often and he was a joy to be around. I will miss him--gone to soon.

Barbara, Ronda, Baylor, Bryce and I are so sorry for your loss. Our prayers are with you and we will see you when you return to Memphis. God Bless.

Matt & Barbara,
I have so many great memories of the times I spent with your Dad. Just an afternoon conversation with him was something to look forward to! He had a special gift for people...You just had to be in a good mood, anytime you were around him. At this sad time, may you find peace in knowing he is with your Mom and in a better place.

Barbara and Matthew - I am your cousin, Janet Kirby Wall, from Virginia, the daughter of your dad's oldest sister, Louise Kirby. All of your cousins here in Virginia are sad to hear about our Uncle Joe. He was a quite character and brought so much laughter and love to all of us any time that got together. I'll never forget when he came to see my mom before she died and got to my house just in time for a good 'ole country homecooked meal. He was in his glory eating corn bread, turnip...

Barbara and Matthew,
Sorry to hear about your Dad. He was my Uncle Joe. Haven't seen him in years. Always knew he was a big Hokie fan. Thinking about you and praying for you as you go through this sad time. Your cousin, Kay Kirby Davis

Wonderful memories of Uncle Harry Joe from when I was just a youngster. Always there with a smile and a joke. My father was always proud of his kid brother. He will be missed.
