It was my great honor to get to intimately know Justice Harry C. Martin and interview him in-depth for my 2012 book, 'Twelve Notables in Western North Carolina' Judge Martin provided a mountain of information and wonderful insights on life that enriched me very much as a person. He will be missed by all. My condolences go out to his family and friends.

Love to all the family. So very sad. Justice Martin will be fondly remembered for his keen legal mind, his great wit, his wisdom, his kindness, and last, but not least, for his (in)famous dog opinion. I was honored and fortunate to have served as one of his law clerks in "Harry's Harem." He was an inspiration, mentor, teacher and friend. Gonna miss you, Sir Judge. God rest you.

Justice Martin was one unforgettable person. As a young Attorney General and Secretary of State, I came across many notable people, and Justice Martin was one of them. Not only was he the greatest gentleman of all, he was right up there with my idol, Senator Sam Ervin, as a man of compassion and caring. I will never forget him.
