Harry Nickey Obituary
SHERMAN, IL - Harry "Bud" Nickey, 85, of Sherman, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born on April 15, 1931 in Springfield, the son of the late Harry Walter Nickey, Jr. and Audrey (Goldsby) Scott. He married Stella Perganson on August 31, 1952 in Springfield and she survives.
Bud graduated from Western Military Academy in Alton, IL, in 1949 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era and later served as Captain in the Army National Guard. He retired from Bunn-O-Matic in Springfield after 32" years. He also felt privileged to go on the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight last October.
Besides his wife Stella, he is survived by his daughter Michelle (husband Dave) Tebrugge of Petersburg, IL; 2 grandchildren, Lindsay and Ryan Tebrugge; a great-granddaughter Leah Maxa; 2 sisters, Diana Lynn Sherrod of Clovis, CA and Darlene "Joyce" Steitz of Meridian, ID; a sister-in-law Adrienne Perganson of Sherman, IL; 1 niece; 1 nephew, and other extended family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Anita Jo Nickey, his step-father "Pete" Scott; and his step-mother Novella Nickey, and his niece Autumn.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield where visitation will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2016 from 1 pm to 4 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield.
Memorials may be made to the Friends of Sangamon County Animal Control or to the Helping Paw Project.
