Harry was for sure one of the good guys. He was very bright, witty, friendly and engaging....a true southern gentleman from a great Jacksonville family he and Frank both. Time being as fast as it is I didn´t even know Harry had died until my curiosity got the best of me and I realized it had been a while since I´d seen him zipping around in his Porsche car with all his dogs in tow and decided I´d better check on him. Everybody´s getting older now or already gone.
My fondest memories of Harry go back to the mid 80´s when I was fortunate enough to be asked to go on a few back packing trips through the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee with Harry and several others mostly doctors. I remember so well Harry, Neil Abramson, David Moomaw, George Trotter, Tommy Andrews especially. Those were great times. I remember a cute story on one occasion when we were all sitting around the campfire after dinner one night talking about being so far back in the mountains among all the 4 legged as well as 2 legged critters that could potentially do us harm. Harry, being a real man´s man said, hell I´m not worried about that as he pulled a .45 pistol out of his back pack.
At that point I thought David Moomaw was going to go nuts over Harry packing a firearm in the Smoky Mountain National Forest. At that point I piped up as I reached into my pack and pulled out my .357 mag. and said, well I guess you´re saying I shouldn´t have this either....that did it as as the whole crew burst into laughing. I thought Mooma was going to pass out.....
Rest in peace Harry and thank you for all the good times !

He was an amazing gentleman. I worked for him for 16 years. from the time I was a brand-new RN in 1973 until his retirement in 1989. I was selfishly sad when he retired, but kept in touch as he made the most of his retirement years—including a black belt in karate and, if memory serves, an MBA. He loved dogs. He loved his family. He will be missed, but what a blessing it has been to have had him on this Earth for almost 95 years. Last year on his birthday, he said he didn’t know why God had decided to keep him around another year, but he was glad that He did, especially with all of his “faculties intact.” The world was a better place with Dr. Reinstine in it, but he is in a better place now. Prayers continue for his loved ones

Lisa,
So sorry to read about the passing of Dr. Reinstine. Early in my nursing career, he was a true inspiration to me and my fellow RN’s. Always so kind and treated us all with the utmost respect. He was highly regarded by all at St.Vincent’s and especially his patients.
Blessings to your family.
Love, Patricia
