Dear Andrea & Family, I first met Smokey when he came aboard the SS Sea-Land Trade in 1973 as Chief Mate. He proved to great shipmate and friend. He was well liked and respected as one of the best shipmaters at Sea-Land. After Sea-Land we both worked for Jeppesen Marine where Smokey quickly won the respect of his global colleagues. Many of them have expressed their condolences and asked me pass them on. We all miss him. RIP Smokey. In our own voyages we been lucky to have you on board.
