I was his secretary for 25 years. Started working for him after graduating from business school. Went for an interview and he said he would call me. Being persistent and after 3 calls he hired me. Started working for him at the Korber Building, then the courthouse. He taught me so much and remember him saying "if you have to ask, then it is not right. I was sick one day and I wanted to go home. He called the court reporter our of court and told her to take me straight to the hospital. ...

It is such a sad time in having lost such a wonderful human being as Justice Stowers. He became a mentor to me while working at Branch Law Firm and filled the role of friend and guide in directing me in his quiet way, to hold firm to my beliefs and morals no matter what life may throw my way. He always said it was all the 'little things' that made life a pleasure and I hope he knew what joy he brought to us all. He was very loved and respected and will be greatly missed.

He will be missed by all who knew him. I am one of those people. I met Mr. Stowers through work at Zia Graphics and just always enjoyed him. He was a very personable person. Once I told him my son was in law school, and then he always asked about my son after that--through 3 years of law school and then onto his professional career. That was very special to me.
Deepest Sympathy to all the family.

When I worked for the Branch Law Firm Justice Stowers would often come to see me just to see how my day was going. When I was accepted to the UNM School of Law, Justice Stowers bought me my first Blacks Law Dictionary. He was a mentor and a friend, but what I will miss most was his genuine interest in helping others. Justice Stowers was a truly caring individual and I am honored to have known him.
Most Respectfully yours,
Chance Gauthier
