Harry J. Thies

SOUTHINGTON - Mr. Harry J. Thies, 83, husband of the late Joyce (Fox) Thies passed away on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at the VITAS unit at St. Mary's Hospital.

Born on May 10, 1930, in Dunkirk, N.Y., he was the son of the late George and Mary (Lucas) Thies. He served in the U.S. Army Security Service during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired employee of The Stop and Shop Supermarket Company where he worked for over 32 years as manager of several stores throughout Connecticut. He has resided in Southington for the last six years and was a member of the First Congre-gational Church.

Harry is survived by his children, Cheryl Seeger, of Naugatuck, Linda and her husband, Bob Crowley, of Wolcott, Brenda and her husband, Bill Records, of Sherman, Brian and his wife, Michelle, of Wolcott; a sister, Jean Bertelmann, of Maryland; 10 grandchildren, Matthew and Jason Crowley, Jessica DiTullio, Hannah and Tyler Records, Carla, Greg and Dayna Seeger, Julia and Trevor Thies; two great-grandchildren, Aren and Camden Seeger; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife Harry was predeceased by brothers, Wal-ter and Charles.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, at the First Congregational Church 37 Main St. Southington. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery in Wolcott.
