Not sure what to say?

I have just learned of Dr. Wright's passing and I only met him once. But just one dinner with him and research colleagues was enough to make him memorable. His kindness and grace made him unforgetable. We were all fortunate to have known him.

In the spring of 1966 I was entering my freshman year at the University of South Carolina. I got a letter from the school informing about my roommate. As I glanced across the letter I saw York and assumed that he was from New York. When Harry came in and we began to talk,I thought this guy doesn't have a New York accent. Dear Cousin Herk,
Rest easy! Rest well! Job well done!!

I am saddened to learn of Dr. Wright's passing. He was a mentor from afar for me- On several occasions I had the pleasure of meeting him at several psychiatry meetings in big cities like Boston and New York- though both of us had our roots in the same small town of York, SC. A brilliant man that I hope to be able to halfway emulate- I admired his steady grace and thoughtful presence. My thoughts are with his family members.

Dr. Wright was an amazing and brilliant psychiatrist who taught us during residency. But he was a marvelous human being, kind and soft spoken with his little laugh that made you laugh. His bright light and gentle spirit will be missed.

Thank you for all your work and the lives you've touched. Your work is done now, go rest in peace. Saundra, Tina and Oliver my thoughts are with you in this time of sorrow.

Our thoughts and prayers are with family.

I am grateful to have Harry's mentor and friendship that spanned 30 years. He made an incredible impact on my life as well as the lives of many others.

Harry and I first crossed paths almost 50 years ago at the Univ. of South Carolina when I was a sophomore and he was a junior. He was the first person I ever knew who could write a computer program to do something of practical importance to me.
He prepared and compiled a survey of liberal arts students which was used as a basis for a major overhaul of the Bachelor of Arts degree program requirements. I was in awe of Harry's ability and also, as a white male who attended segregated...
