HARVEY B. BOWEN SR.
SHELBY- Harvey B. Bowen, Sr. died peacefully at home on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, with his family by his side. Born in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Broadus B. and Fannie Mae Bowen. He attended Piedmont High School, Wake Forest University, and High Point University. He retired after 45 years in management with Doran Textiles. He was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church serving on numerous committees. He served his community as a member of the Board of Adjustments, Zoning Board, and Life Enrichment Board. He was a member of the 1945 American Legion World Series Championship team. He loved playing golf with his regular group at River Bend.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Hazel Bowen McCraw. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Catherine Proctor Bowen; a son, Harvey B. Bowen, Jr (Butch) and wife Kathy; a daughter, Anne Bowen Goss and husband Mike; two sisters, Shirley Bowen Wright and husband Buddy and Elva Bowen Rollins; brother Elbert (Buddy) Bowen; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Bowen Scism and husband Tim, Stephanie Bowen Shank, Elizabeth Goss, Troy Goss and wife Jana; and six great grandchildren.

Visitation: The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Epworth Building.
A Celebration of Life Service: Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at 4 p.m., at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Officiated By: Rev. Sylvia Wilham.
Funeral Home: Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the family.
