Not sure what to say?

"A true Gentleman and a Scholar" are words that truly fit Harvey Bennett. You knew exactly which side of the sanctuary and which pew he and Ruth would sit each Sunday. And I dare say, from his pew, Harvey faced the aisle and matched the pastor standing at the door "hand shake to hand shake" after the service. People were important to this man. And what a great person he was! Praise God!

Harvey and Ruth were friends of my mother at FUMC- Ann Arbor and later when they all wound up at Chelsea Retirement Community. My memory of Harvey will always be the canes that he made for her and many others who needed them. She carried the cane proudly until the day she died. It not only kept her walking steadily but was also a work of art and a show piece for Harvey's generosity!

Harvey (I knew him best as "Mr. Bennett") was such a kind and patient man. I will always remember the thoughful visits he and Ruth paid to my home on Christmas eve and his generous sharing of his wife's time and attention with our girl scout troop. My sincerest condolences to Cheryl and Craig and their families.

Harvey was one of the kindest and friendliest members of Ann Arbor First United Methodist. His warm presence will be missed by all who knew him. My sympathies to his family and my hope that his mmemory will always remain with you to guide, inspire and console you all.

I've known Harvey as a fellow member of Ann Arbor First United Methodist Church. A wonderful Christian man. He was always very cheerful. What a blessing to our church. He will be missed. Phyllis Rector
