Not sure what to say?

Harvey Beresford. The man who chased me and caught my heart. I loved and cared for him for 23 years - from 2nd year at Queen´s University, to marriage in 1964 when he was in first year Queen´s Law, to great success as a Labour Relations lawyer, then partner at Hicks, Morley, Hamilton, Stewart and Storie. Harvey knew he wanted to be a lawyer by the time he graduated from our High School in Montreal. By the beginning of Law School he knew he wanted to be a Labour Relations specialist, at a time...

Sincere condolences.

I´m so sorry to learn, very belatedly, of Harvey´s departure. I knew him for his infectiously upbeat presence on the basketball court and his great enthusiasm for jazz. I will always be grateful for his thoughtful advice on unemployment matters, which he kindly gave me, even years after I last saw him in person. He was a consummate professional, and enormously generous to me. My sincerest condolences to the family.

The Ontario Labour-Management Arbitrators' Association ("OLMAA") is an organization of labour arbitrators providing adjudication and mediation services for resolving labour disputes between union and management parties to collective agreements throughout Ontario. Harvey appeared as counsel before many of our members, and we were delighted to welcome him to our Association when he left legal practice to become a neutral. With Harvey's many years of experience, and engaging personality, he...

As neighbours and as friends it was a great pleasure to know Harvey. Sparkling conversation on Jane and Harvey´s deck or on ours looking at the sun set into Lake Ontario as we dined, a shared love of music and of dance, talk of travel, Harvey provided immeasurable happiness to these shared moments. Attending a concert or just standing in the kitchen cleaning mushrooms as we prepared dinner, each moment, large or small was a gift. Our hearts go out to Jane on this great loss

I first met Harvey in 1976-77 when I was an articling student on the Ottawa Journal case at the OLRB when Harvey successfully stopped my Principal, Jeffrey Sack, from altogether revolutionizing the bargaining in bad faith jurisprudence in Ontario. He did a great job and I particularly remember that as he sat across the open tables from us at 400 University, his legs never stopped criss-crossing. And like the personable open minded person and intellect he was, he took a special interest in me...

I fist met Harvey as the Negotiator for the Government in negotiations with the Ontario Medical Association in 1996. I represented the OMA. We started out as very much opposing counsel to two very distrusting clients and ended up allies in attempts to reconcile two antagonistic parties with extremely complex and contentious issues but who had a vital relationship important to the public. He had a unique ability to work with very difficult issues and with groups and individuals who...

I knew Harvey first as the lawyer who represented the Government in negotiations with the Ontario Medical Association. I represented the OMA. For almost 10 years Harvey and I spent a great deal of time on extensive negotiations, as members on the Physicians Services Committee and numerous other joint 'committees' dealing with a complex and difficult health care system in a time of major changes. We started as opposite negotiator and became good friends. He was a composite professional and a...

I had the pleasure of working closely with Harvey on a number of labour negotiations and other labour and employment law issues while employed at Inco and later Vale. Harvey was the consummate professional and always could be relied upon to give you excellent advice. I have many good memories of him. My condolences to all his family on this loss.
