Not sure what to say?

There needs to be a book about this man, maybe the most interesting I ever met. I knew him when he lived in LA and played with him at least once a week. Hanging out with him was always a great experience.

Just was wondering how Harvey was doing so I googled him - 10 years late. We knew him through the jazz world - he was a wonderful drummer, but more than that, he was a brilliant guy with a warm heart and great to talk with. My husband and I enjoyed him very much. He came to our wedding in Vermont 20 years ago. He will be missed.

Dear Antonia,

Thanks for the reply. Harvey was one of those people that one meets in life that make a deep impression and are never forgotten. The people I used to play music with at Canter's would all just sit back and smile in astonishment at his incredible drum solos; I had never seen anyone play the drums like he did, with the sticks on the rims, or throwing some hands onto the skins, etc. He was also an important bit of "glue" between various flaky young band members at Canters in...

Alison, thanks for the lovely post! I'm going to check out canters next week. Im excited to spend some time in one of his old stomping grounds.

Bet you can't believe I'm living in California now papa. Turns out New York was too cold for me. Love and miss you everyday.

Hi Allison, yes, Harvey was the best drummer! He did live a short time in LA. He was greatly loved and dearly missed.

I don't know if this is the Harvey Brower I knew in Los Angeles; he played drums at the Kibbutz Room in Canter's Deli when I was playing violin sometimes there, in 1993-1994. He was the best drummer I have ever met, and a lovely person, too. If this is you, Harvey, I'm sorry I won't be able to greet you again in this life. All my regards to your family. [[email protected]]
