WALSER, Havelock, 92, native of Staten Island, N.Y. and longtime resident of Richmond Va., passed away peacefully at his home on October 2, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Shepherd Walser; son, William (Nancy) of Denver, Colorado; son, Richard (Nancy) of Little Rock, Arkansas; son, Robert of Richmond, Virginia; daughter, Betsy (David) Terkeltoub of Wilmington, N.C.; five grandchildren: Samuel Walser, Kathleen Walser, Charles Walser, William Terkeltoub, Abigail Terkeltoub; and two stepgrandchildren, Jacob Medina and Rachel Medina; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Caleb Barrera and Malachi Barrera. Havelock was a honorably discharged WWII Navy Petty Officer who as part of the Shore Patrol transported German POWs off of the coast of Libya. He began his career with AMF in Brooklyn, N.Y. and retired after 53 years of service at AMF/SASIB in Richmond. Havelock enjoyed playing bridge and for many years, ran the Tuesday night bridge group at Willow Oaks Country Club, and belonged to many other weekend bridge groups. He enjoyed landscaping his yard, stamp collecting, and model railroading. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. October 9 at Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 8 N. Laurel Street, Richmond 23220. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church or the MCV Hospitality House.
