Hayes Lewis

He was a remarkable person & I am sorry he has passed.

The Hayes Lewis family and Hayes himself, have made every Leslie Countian feel proud of their LEWIS heritage. Hayes himself has left shoes very hard to fill in providing educational opportunities for our youth and adults. Hayes made efforts that reached the hearts of the Nation with his deeds.
Till we meet again Hayes, we all miss you and Elva.

I graduated from LCHS in 1974 so Mr. Lewis was superintendent through most of my school years. I remember as a small child going to school at Hyden Elementary and on occasion have the opportunity to see Mr. Lewis around the school and being in awe of him, knowing that he was someone to be honored and admired, and I felt that way even into my adult years. It didn't matter where I saw him throughout my life, whether at the grocery, doctor's office, or on the streets in town, he always had a...

My sympathy to all the Lewis family. Mr. lewis was one of our most outstanding individuals here in our county. The Leslie County School system progressed more during his administration than probably any other in our history. Beyond that he was a very kind and caring gentleman.
