It is truly with heartfelt sadness that I learned of Hazel's passing. We saw each other in passing several weeks ago and wished each other well. I thank God for her life and the way she touched the lives of so many. She became the voice of so many and was a strong advocate for Civil Rights.
To her family and friends, I am reminded to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I am sure she was greeted with well done my good and faithful servant.. Rest in paradise my friend..

Prayers for your family daily for peace during these moments of her loss. We will meet you in Heaven. Love Marsha

My dear friend Mrs. Hazel Owens Black. My prayers are with the families @ this time and always. I know God called her by name and she was ready! I knew her and Doris for many years and they always loved us (Nelson) girls dearly! I could call on Ms. Hazel for anything and she always had an answer, if not she would find out and follow up with me. Doing the time that my Father was ill she uplifted me and made me laugh and cry @ the same time. I will always remember what she taught me...
