It is truly with heartfelt sadness that I learned of Hazel's passing. We saw each other in passing several weeks ago and wished each other well. I thank God for her life and the way she touched the lives of so many.She became the voice of so many and was a strong advocate for Civil Rights.
To her family and friends, I am reminded to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. I am sure she was greeted with well done my good and faithful servant.. Rest in paradise my friend..

My dear friend Mrs. Hazel Owens Black. My prayers are with the families @ this time and always. I know God called her by name and she was ready! I knew her and Doris for many years and they always loved us (Nelson) girls dearly! I could call on Ms. Hazel for anything and she always had an answer, if not she would find out and follow up with me.
