Hazel Pankey Grizzle

HAZEL PANKEY GRIZZLE Hazel Pankey Grizzle, 86, of Castle Hayne, died Sunday, July 20, 2014; at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family and many friends. Hazel was born on May 16, 1928 in Anson County, NC, daughter of the late Daniel James & Rona Owen Pankey. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert S. Grizzle, Sr., daughter, Deborah Lynn Britt and one sister, Louise Cribb. She was active in her church, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by five children, son, Hubert Grizzle, Jr., daughter, Doris DeVane and husband, Doug, and son, George Grizzle, of Castle Hayne; daughter, Barbara Daniel and husband, Edward, of Rocky Point; and son, Jeff Grizzle and wife, Sheila, of Watha. She is also survived by son-in-law, Glenn Britt of Castle Hayne,11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two sisters, and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Wrightsboro Baptist Church, 2736 Castle Hayne Rd., officiated by Rev. Brad Harrison and Rev. Mike Lewis. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 7pm until 8pm at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Hazel's six grandsons, Ed Daniel, Bert Daniel, Sandy Grizzle, Brandon Grizzle, Zack Grizzle and Daniel Clawson, will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses in CCU, and the 10th floor nursing staff at New Hanover Regional Medical Center for the loving care and devotion they showed Hazel in her final weeks.
