Hazel Laughlin

I read Hazel Laughlin's obituary today,
as I was trying to find her daughter,
Sarah, a very dear, high school friend.
I was deeply touched with gratitude for
having had the opportunity to know such
a powerful spirit. I have many lovely
memories of visiting Hazel's home starting when I was thirteen years old.
(I will be 60 next year!)

My firstborn daughter, Sarah, was named
after Sarah Laughlin, and chose to be born on Hazel's 58th birthday!...

One of my best memories of Aunt Hazel was when Margy and I and the kids were driving along Hawthorne Blvd. and someone said, "Isn't that Aunt Hazel?" I believe she was riding her bike to work at the Bread and Ink Cafe. She was about 75 years of age or older at the time.

I read Hazel Laughlin's obituary this morning and it brought back many memories. My father, Jerry Janson, worked at Mutual Wholesale Drug Company for over 30 years and Hazel's husband, Joe, was his boss. I remember visiting the Laughlin home when I was a child. Hazel always seemed so elegant, composed and kind. My mother, Nancy Janson, also recently died (March 22nd). Mrs. Laughlin's family is in my thoughts and prayers. Paula (Janson) Lang
