Hazel Cason Nichols, 92, died early Saturday morning (January 30, 2016) at Baptist Village Retirement Communities following an extended illness. She was a native of Ware County being raised in the Waresboro-Pebble Hill Communities and had made her home in Ware and Pierce Counties for the past 43 years. She was the wife of the late George W. Nichols, Jr., and daughter of the late Owen John Cason and Theresa Lightsey Cason. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Dorothy Lee, and Jeanette Mobley, and a brother O.J. Cason. She was a graduate from Wacona High School. Mrs. Nichols had formerly worked with her sister at Aunt Net's Playhouse Daycare. She is remembered by her family as a devoted mother and grandmother. She attended Waycross Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Copeland (husband Wilber) of Dixie Union, 3 sons, George Nichols, III (wife Marylou) of Blackshear, Elder Phillip Nichols (wife Agnes) of Blackshear, and Johnny Carter of Waycross; 2 grandchildren, Stephanie Chaney (husband Jimmy) of Nichols, GA, and Robin Hale (husband Ricky) of Dixie Union; 3 great grandchildren, Austin Hale and Sierra Hale of Dixie Union and Lauren Bennett of Argyle; 2 sisters, Marie Reyna of Brunswick, and Vera Bowers of Fernandina Beach, FL; a brother David Cason (wife Jean) of Waycross, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday (February 1, 2016) at Waycross Primitive Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 Monday at the church. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday (February 2, 2016) at the Nichol's Cemetery in Oxford, FL. Sympathy can be expressed by signing the online registry at www.musicfuneralhome.com. Music Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
