Hazel PETSUL

October 1, 1927 ~ March 17, 2013

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother & Baba, (our Great Perogy Maker) Hazel Petsul. Mom passed away courageously battling her illness at Rainbow Gardens, on Sunday, March 17, 2013.

Hazel was born in Canora, Saskatchewan, and predeceased by her husband, Johnnie (2005), her brother, Rusty, her sister, Olga and her youngest daughter, Gail.

She is survived by her daughter, Gerry (Sylvia) and husband, Dan Connell of Port Alberni, sons, Wayne of Quesnel and Douglas (Gwen) of Port Alberni; her sisters, Violet (Bill) Baron of Ontario, Gloria (Lawrence) Kreston of Ontario, Lillian Oystreck of Edmonton, Debbie (Gerald) Assoyagon of Manitoba and brother Melvin Creston of California; grandchildren, Bryce (Kristen), Kevin (Gen) Connell of Port Alberni, Daryl (Christine), Jason (Lori) Petsul of Quesnel, Amanda (Stewart) Vanderheid of Kelowna, Trish (Scott) Bassingthwaite, Amy (Greg) Flint, Michael Petsul (Catrina & Danica) of Port Alberni; great grandchildren, Samantha, Alex & Ryan Connell, Ashley, Greg, Haven, Ethan & Ryder Petsul, Kaylee Vanderheid, Nicholas & Loran Bassingthwaite, Anna, Gwen, Adam, Cian & Ezme Flint, as well as, many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a Graveside Service on Thursday, April 4, 2013, 1:00 pm, at Alberni Valley Memorial Gardens, Port Alberni Highway. A light lunch will follow at Yates Funeral Service, 4470 Gertrude Street.

No flowers by request, if so desired, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Fund.

Many heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at WCGH for their excellent care to Hazel during her five month stay, and to the kind and caring staff at Rainbow Gardens.
