Hazel Tyson Obituary
Macon, GA- Hazel Logan Tyson, 87, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Bolingreen Nursing Home. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 11 at 11 a.m. at Martha Bowman United Methodist Church with Reverend Tim Steffen officiating. The family will greet friends on Saturday in the sanctuary of Martha Bowman United Methodist Church from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will be private at Macon Memorial Park. The family requests that donations be made to the Oliver Morton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, C/O Julia Simpson, 351 Skinner Road, Macon, 31211 or Martha Bowman United Methodist Church, 500 Bass Road, Macon, 31210.
Mrs. Tyson was born in Macon to the late Mattie Cornelia Johnson Logan and William David Logan, Sr. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Julius Edward Tyson; siblings, William David Logan, Jr., Frank C. Amerson, Jr., and Miriam Amerson Bell. Hazel was the bookkeeper at Jack Mann Company and Barney Smith Lincoln-Mercury, Inc. She was a member of Martha Bowman United Methodist Church and the Nan Freeman Sunday School Class, a member of the Oliver Morton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; former member of the Pilot Club of Putnam County and a former member of the Ladies of the Lake, Lake Sinclair.
Survivors include her sons, Michael Edward Tyson of Putnam County and Kenneth David (Kim) Tyson of Macon, grandchildren, Christopher M. Tyson, Kimberly T. Futch, Craig N. Tyson, Brittany Tyson and Matthew Tyson; six great-grandchildren, sisters, Laura Oakley of Decatur and Mary Burt of Macon.

Hazel and I formed a special bond sixty years ago. I was 6 years old and my mother was in the hospital. Hazel and Julius were gracious, and volunteered to keep me for several weeks until my mother was well enough for me to return home.
Hazel and I had a great time playing games and eating pineapple sandwiches, which were my favorite. That showed what a special person Hazel was, and my wife, Jenny, and I always enjoyed visiting with Hazel and her family
at family gatherings.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mike,Ken,and their families. We pray that the grace of God and the peace of the Lord will be with all of Hazels family and all of us who loved her.

Mrs Tyson was an awesome lady who meant so much to me. She made such an impact on my life. She will be missed greatly. Know that she was so loved by me and I treasure all my memories. MAy God be with you during your loss. Love to each and everyone. KIM V TYSON

So sorry to hear about Hazel, we will miss her in the Nan Freeman class. My prayer is that we keep her memories alive and prepare to meet her again. We will keep her family in our prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Please accept my sincere sympathy in your loss. Hazel and I were in the Pilot Club in Eatonton and the Oliver Morton DAR. She was a sweet, smart and hardworking person. She loved her family.
