Hazel Gean Wise Venable

Shreveport, LA - Funeral services for Mrs. Hazel Gean Wise Venable, age 80, will be held at 3:00 pm, Monday, May 18, 2015 at Plain Dealing Baptist Church, Plain Dealing, LA with Dr. Larry Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery, Plain Dealing under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home, Plain Dealing.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Venable was born on February 26, 1935 to Lacy and Josie Earlean Barge Wise in Columbia County, AR and passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at her home in Shreveport. She was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, Shreveport and a former member of Plain Dealing Baptist Church, Plain Dealing. Hazel was a school teacher and librarian for 37 years, and retired from the Bossier Parish School system in 1997. She loved to sing, cook, play cards and read. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by her son, Jamie C. Venable and wife, Robin of Missouri City, TX; daughter, Josie Bernadette Tappel and husband, Craig of Lafayette, LA; son-in-law, Russell Jones of Lewisville, AR; two grandsons, Carter Jones and wife, Katie, and Joseph Tappel; three granddaughters, Erin, Anna Joy, and Lauren Tappel; numerous nieces and nephews; and special family friend, Rick Smith.

Mrs. Venable was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Bernard Edgar Venable, son-Eddy Venable, daughter-Melody Jones, sister-Laverne Wise, and twin sister-Helen Perdue.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Tappel, Carter Jones, Charles Thompson, and Paul Thompson, Larry Wise, and Steve Rowe.
