Heidi Roberta Massey (Bacon) passed away peacefully on August 20th surrounded by her loving family, after a long battle with breast cancer.

Heidi grew up on Lake Massasecum in Bradford, where she enjoyed adventures and taking care of her animals, particularly her horses. A terrific athlete, she was the first person to score 500 points in basketball at Kearsarge Regional High School. She was awarded a scholarship to NH College for field hockey, basketball, and softball, where she would letter in all three and go on to graduate. A devoted State of NH Employee for over 30 years, Heidi developed the software used for the annual NH Fish and Game Moose Lottery.

Heidi enjoyed taking long rides on her motorcycle and spending time out on the lake in her kayak. Her dogs were a big part of her life. Any day spent with London and Pesky was a great day for Heidi. She enjoyed projects around the house. She was an avid traveler and was thrilled to meet many friends along the way. She was everyone's champion.

Family was absolutely the most important part of Heidi's life. She was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Jim. She is survived by her sons, Tyler Massey of Boston, MA and Specialist Sean Massey of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. She is also survived by her siblings, Beth Spaulding and her husband Peter of Hopkinton, NH, David Bacon and his wife Cheryl of Milton, MA, and Heather Bacon-Putirka and her husband Keith of Clovis, CA. Also surviving are her beloved nieces and nephews, Josh, Noelani, Ben, Arianna, Christine, Sarah and Naomi.

Memorial calling hours will be held Friday, August 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Waters Funeral Home in Concord, NH.

Services will be held Saturday, August 27, at 1:30 PM at First Congregational Church, 1548 Hopkinton Road, Hopkinton, NH. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pope Memorial SPCA, 94 Silk Farm Road, Concord, NH, 03301.

Not sure what to say?

Tyler and Sean, I am so sorry for your loss of your Mom. I worked with her at Liquor Comm and sure enjoyed our talks and laughs. She was a very special person and very smart. She will be missed. Linda Tellia

I'm another former high school classmate. When I read about Heidi, I remembered what an athlete she was. I'm sorry to have not stayed in touch. Please accept my condolences.

Tyler & Sean: We are so saddened by the loss of your Mom. I am just reading about this now, thanks to FB. Otherwise we would have been there in person to support you. Know you are in our thoughts & prayers. Keep memories if happier times close to your heart. Lee-Anne, Darren & Dan Smith

So sorry for your lose Tyler and Sean
your mother was one of the best. I agree with Kat Keith. Remember the good times to help you through this

Sean and Tyler,
I was saddened to learn of your Mom's passing. I last saw you three at your Dad's funeral and that seems such a short time ago. I enjoyed so much the time spent with your Mom doing Quarterback Club stuff. She was a hard worker, had a big heart and was so much fun to be around. It was evident that she loved you guys to pieces and was so proud of you both! I will keep you and your family in my thoughts in the weeks and months ahead. I wish you all gentle peace.

So sad to see this obit for my old high school friend. Heidi and I were in Spanish class as well as drama club together. Memorable roles in The Hobbit, a musical, believe it or not. My deepest sympathies to Heidi's two sons and her sister, Beth (Bacon) Spaulding.

My sincere condolences to the Bacon and Massey families.

To Heidi's loved ones, Heidi was a year ahead of me in high school. We played field hockey together for three years. I will always remember her generosity, kindness and fighting spirit. I am so very sorry for the loss of someone who was so loved.

With love, Wilhelmina Hazen Picard
