Today is July 8, 2007. Today was the first I had heard that Helen had died; I had planned on calling her and visiting her the weekend of July 21st and 22nd when I was going to be in Kalamazoo for a Family Reunion. My sister-in-law in St. Joseph told me the news.

It's difficult to imagine that Helen is gone; she was so kind and warm and vibrant--so intelligent, talented and involved. She always seemed so very young, and I know...

As the Plant Director for Friendship Village, I had the privilege to work with Helen on the Friendship Village Board Operations Committee. Helen was always direct of her wishes and desires, but always kept a positive outlook of the end vision. It was difficult to think of Helen as a resident at Friendship Village... she was more like a friend. She will be missed.
