BUDAY, MRS. HELEN M. SPRING LAKE, MI Helen Mary (Blohm) Buday, age 95, went to be with her heavenly Father on May 23, after a struggle with recurrent breast cancer. She passed peacefully surrounded by her husband of 67 years, Arthur, and children. Helen was born on Dec. 3, 1918, to John and Rosa Belle (Parson) Blohm in Honor, MI. She graduated at the top of her class from Honor High School. She attended Benzie County Normal Training School in Frankfort, MI, Ferris State College (FSU), and Michigan State College (MSU), where she received her teaching certificate in 1943. After 10 years of teaching in several one-room school houses near her hometown, she chose to stay home to raise her children, giving additional care to her daughter Susie, with whom she shared a special bond. Making a home was her life's joy and she did it with grace. She was, also, closely involved with the family business, O'le Henry Gardens, as she managed all the bookkeeping. Helen was very dedicated to her faith and would say the rosary with her family every day. As an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 62 years, Helen taught CCD for special needs children and volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister at Hackley Hospital. She believed strongly in the rights of the unborn child and children of special needs, and was involved with the March for Life in Washington D.C and the TOPS Club. Thoughout her life, Helen enjoyed cooking, sewing, bird watching, and the flowers her husband planted for her delight. Helen and Arthur loved to polka dance together and would often attend festivals around the state. She is remembered by her loved ones for her philanthropy and her dedication to her faith and family. She is survived by her husband Arthur and children, Cheryl (John) Meardon of Parker, CO, Julie (Brad) Walker of Spring Lake, Thom (Kathy) of Norton Shores, Tim (Cindy) of Muskegon, Mary (John) Barrett of Norton Shores, Jerry (Therese) of Roosevelt Park, Jeanne (Steve) Kruzona of Norton Shores, and Susie Buday, who still lives at home; as well as her 21 grandchildren, Brandon, Ryan, Jeffrey, Kristina, Jacob, Jessica, Rebecca, Sarah, Amy, Crystal, Katie, Jennifer, Nathan, Ben, Elliott, Jeremie, Christopher, Kelly, Stephanie, Jason, Andrew; nine great-grandchildren, and several neices and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Right to Life of MI, the Special Olympics of Mich. Area 21, or Sacred Heart Church. Please feel free to sign the on-line guestbook at youngfh.com A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 150 E. Summit Ave., Thursday, May 29, at 11 a.m, the Rev.
