Reichel Funeral Home - Northampton Obituary

Helen P. Demchuk, 93 of Northampton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2023 in St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem. Born on May 14, 1929 in Northampton, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Boris) Plotsko. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, son, Eugene Gregory and beloved dog, Buttons. She was employed as a cleaner for Western Electric/AT&T for over 20 years. Helen was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Northampton and the Pioneer Club. She was an avid baker.


Survivors: Helen is survived by her daughters, Deborah A. Keppel, Patricia Cowitch and husband Leonard; son, Eugene; grandchildren, Leonard and wife Angela, Leah and husband Matthew, Christopher and wife Kasia, Nathaniel; great grandchildren, Alekszandria, Jacob, Isabella, Natalya, Karsyn, Ashton, and several nieces and nephews. Siblings, Mary, Anna, John, Rose, Michael, Harry, Charlie, Julie preceded Helen in death.


Services: A Divine Liturgy will be held on Thursday, January 12th at 10:30 a.m. in the church, 1343 Newport Ave., Northampton. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 8:45 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st St., Northampton. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Online condolences may be offered below.


Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in loving memory of Helen.
