Remembering Helen has been a habit of mine, every spring, in Maine. While hanging laundry on my clothesline, she would come across the yard to chat for a bit. Each year since we lost her, a lovely patch of blue Forget-Me-Nots emerges from the part of her old yard which is adjacent to mine.

They have transplanted themselves onto my yard now and still remind me of her when I see them, looking out from my kitchen window. A lovely memory to have.

Helen had such an independent spirit and did not care if you did not agree with her. Her words were often wise and she was a good friend to anyone who was honest and caring. Helen loved her stray cats and many dogs that came by her door.

I am so saddened to hear that she is no longer with us. My heartfelt wishes of peace and healing go out to all of her family. Helen took the place of a substitute grandmother for my children when she lived at 10 Pinewood Street in Orono. We spent...

I enjoyed working with Helen at the University of Maine during the time she was Admin Asst to Dr Bruce Poulton in Coburn Hall.
My sincere condolences to her family.

Helen and her husband (Bob?) lived across the street from us (McGuire family) on University Place in Orono in the 60's. Great neighbors and friends. What a strange surprise to come upon her obituary as I was looking up the obituary for Dr. Bruce Poulton, another neighbor and Helen's boss when she worked at the Animal Sciences Department. Bruce died on June 19th at age 88 in Raleigh, NC. For two summers while I was a college student (1965-1966), I worked for them doing odd jobs at the A.S....

Sorry to hear that Helen is gone , she was a nice person . She always had a smile for everyone . I will miss her .
