Helen Holmes

Living out of town, I just learned of Helen's passing. What a dear! I taught fourth grade next door to Helen during the school year 1966-67 when I lived in Ann Arbor. We did a musical together using the song book, I Sing of Michigan, copyright 1962 by Lorna Dee Young. (A previous commenter mentioned this book.) I learned so much about good teaching from Helen and am grateful for all she did for children and for me as a young teacher.

Ms Holmes was my first and second grade teacher. She was an amazing woman.

Helen was a very good friend of my mom's, Dorothy (Dot) D'Addona. We have know Helen for many many years as all of us 6 kids knew her from Mack school. My mom and Helen also bowled together for many years. We will miss her but know her and my mom are hanging out again with all the bowling gals. Rest in peace Helen.

Ms Holmes was my 4th grade teacher at Mack! She taught us how to play the flutaphone. And musical songs, but the best thing was when she was teaching us Michigan history! I have searched forever for the song book she shared with the class "Michigan My Michigan" we learned to sing many of the songs about Michigan and its history!! Are family also spent time with her when she lived at Miss Greens home! My condolences to the family
