Helen L. Kwiecien, 79, of La Porte, Indiana, passed away in Michigan City, IN, on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015. Beloved wife of Richard Kwiecien for 58 years; loving mother of Therese Kwiecien (Frank Revitte), Loretta Sebastian (Thomas), and James Kwiecien. Also survived by five grandchildren: Jonathan, Emily, and Andrew Repp; and Abby and Carly Kwiecien. Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Louise Grund, and her brother, George Grund.

Helen was born in Chicago and was raised in Berwyn, IL. She was employed by Western Electric in Cicero, IL, and went on to marry Richard, the love of her life, on June 8, 1957, in Berwyn. Together, they relocated to La Porte, IN, where they raised their family and enjoyed life in the country. They were longtime members of Saint Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, and later, Queen of All Saints Catholic Church.

Art was one of Helen?s lifelong passions. She loved watercolor painting and colored pencil illustration. She was an active member of the Michigan City Art League for more than twenty years.

After Richard?s retirement, the two enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Helen was a wonderful cook, loyal friend, and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be remembered for her hardworking, compassionate, and generous spirit, and will be greatly missed.



Visitation will be held at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home, 613 Washington St., Michigan City, on Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church with Father Kevin Huber officiating, 606 S. Woodland Ave., Michigan City at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, with visitation at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.



Final resting place in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Michigan City, IN.
