New London - Helen (Elion) Langfield, a native of New London, died on Aug. 28, 2011, in her home in Boca Raton, Fla.
The daughter of the late Harry R. and Ida Elion, Langfield attended Williams Memorial Institute and The Ohio State University. She earned a master of arts degree in art from Connecticut College. A one time contributor to WNLC Radio and The Day newspaper, the teacher and artist, whose work was featured in New York and Florida galleries, held her last exhibits at the Lyman Allyn Museum and Hygienic Art Gallery in New London.
Predeceased by her husband, Raymond, Helen Langfield is survived by her daughter, Joanna Langfield Rose of New York City and her husband, Michael, and son, Gregory.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Congregation Beth El in New London.
