Helen was married to Ernest Luckert on Oct. 3, 1942; they shared 52 wonderful years together before his death on July 3, 1995.

Helen was a homemaker who lived to be outside in her yard. She loved tending to her many flowers and vegetable gardens. She was the most content when she could put on her "glad rags" to work outdoors.

She is survived by her children, Ellen Benoit and her husband, Peter, of Ledyard, Lynda Bedri and her husband, Matthew, of Mystic, Deborah Luckert and her husband, Bill McKee, of Simsbury; five grandchildren, Christopher Smith of Quaker Hill, Aaron Smith of Mystic, Scott Benoit and his wife, Monica, of Monrovia, Calif., Laura Oswell and Jameson Oswell, both of Simsbury; also three great-grandchildren, Garrett Smith, Lucia and Gabriel Benoit. She leaves two step-daughters, Amy Tinker, Anna Turner, and a step- granddaughter, Karlin Goff. Helen is also survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Tureski of Southampton, N.Y., and Lee Erwood of Winter Haven, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Helen was predeceased by five sisters and three brothers.

Her family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to neighbors, the Gilman and Timpano families, for their friendship, love, and support for Helen.

Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., is assisting her family with the services which are to be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be directed to the Center for Hospice Care Southeast Connecticut, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.
