Not sure what to say?

Mrs. Nelson was my second grade teacher at Oak Grove Elementary School. She was one of my favorite teachers. I remember how she would teach me math after school and was always kind, patient and encouraging. I am grateful to have had her as a teacher! She will always be remembered!

Helen Nelson touched more lives in a positive way than anyone I have ever known. I was very fortunate that 3 of my 4 boys had her for their second grade teacher. Their participation in "The Delicious Cookie Co." prepared them for very successful careers in business as well as the self esteem they gained in their everyday classroom activities under the loving guidance of Mrs. Nelson. In fact, my 3rd son, Michael married his 2nd grade classmate, Kacie Curtis 22 years ago. I actually think...

We were blessed that I was able to talk with Helen on her most recent birthday. We have shared the obituary with ours sons, Mark and Brian, who were beneficiaries of her love of teaching and "her" children. For years after they left her classroom her counsel influence our choice of books for them. We were blessed by being able to visit her two years ago. She has continued to be a source and recipient of love for a time that could reasonably have spanned two lifetimes. A void in all of...

Helen you were a blessing to this earth....You will be missed

Helen Nelson was an amazing lady. She always had a way with words to encourage children and she ran a tight ship at Oak Grove. God bless her as she is welcomed into eternal life.

Dear Nelsons

My Mom (Betty Horgan) and I saw your Mom several years ago. What an amazing person. There really are no words to describe how great she ws in all things. My Mom (d. 2012) often spoke of her with admiration and love.

Mrs. Nelson was by far the most memorable teacher I ever had! She was my second grade teacher in 1976-77 at Oak Grove. I was just telling my own second grader her about her the other day! She was so kind and creative, but I also remember her as a strong woman. Her family should be very proud - not many people affect so many lives in such a profound way, especially at such a young age! She will be very missed. God bless her and her family.

It was with profound sadness that I learned of Mrs. Nelson's passing. She was my beloved 2nd grade teacher, my hero. Her kindness, gentleness and encouragement were blessings in the lives of so many children & their families.

With deepest sympathy to those she leaves behind. May you find comfort in the knowledge of how many lives she enriched.

To Helen's Family,
May the wonderful and extraordinary memories of Helen give you peace. I knew her as the most wonderful second grade teacher ever. Those who knew Helen were blessed were her special caring.
