Helen Louise Papke, 63, of New Buffalo, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 20, 2011. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI. Helen was born on October 20, 1947 in Michigan City, IN to George “Jim� and Helen (Marciniak) Scurlock. She attended Elston High School in Michigan City, IN. On May 22, 1965, in New Buffalo, MI, she married Lyn Papke. Helen was a hostess at the Four Winds Casino Buffet. She dearly loved her family and will be greatly missed. Helen is survived by her husband, Lyn; her children, Patrick (Christina) Papke of Michigan City, Kelli (Jonathan) Rush of Toledo, OH, and Ryan (Mellownie) Papke of South Lake Tahoe, CA; four grandchildren, Kevin, Kaitlyn, Keagen and Christopher; sisters, Victoria (Gary) Fiscus of Michigan City, Marsha Lee of St. Paul, MN, Norma (Tom) Wozniak of Michigan City, and Carol Draper of New Buffalo; and brothers, Donald (Kathy) Scurlock of Wanatah, IN and Phillip (Sue) Scurlock of Michigan City; many nephews and nieces; and her feline friend Ginger. A Celebration of Life Service will be on Sat., July 23, 11:00 AM at the Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo with Rev. Brad Bartelmay officiating. Final resting place is at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Michigan City. Visitation is on Friday, from 5:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
