Helen J. Parent, 83, lifelong resident of Pawtucket, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late Richard D. Parent for 53 years. Helen was the daughter of the late Eugene and Mary (Zielinski) McManus.
She is survived by her caretakers and her sons, Steven R. Parent (Christine), Christopher J. Parent (Laurie), and Michael J. Parent (Norma). Helen also leaves five grandchildren, Amanda J., Lindsey, Nolan, Quinn, and Jake Parent. She was the surrogate sister of Charles Tempinski and Antonio Pires.
Helen was a lifelong parishioner of St. Leo the Great Church; she was active with parish events and the senior group. She was also a member of the Pawtucket Public Safety Retirees Association. She worked for many years for the collections department of Troy, Pires, and Allen. Helen’s favorite vocation was as a Funeral Professional at a local funeral home where she greeted so many and gave comfort.
Helen’s warm smile, beautiful blue eyes, and positive demeanor were always welcoming. She leaves long-term friends, especially Julie Masse and Mary Moniz. Helen stared down breast cancer for 30 years and never let it beat her.
Thank you to all who attended Helen in her final days, especially Diane Dowding and Meghan Layden.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, May 23rd at 11:00 AM in Saint Cecilia Church of St. John Paul II Parish, 755 Central Avenue, Pawtucket. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
A donation in Helen’s memory may be made to a Breast Cancer foundation, or any cause for Animals of your choosing.
The world lost a wonderful Mother, friend, and loyal supporter.

My sympathy is with you and I feel terrible that I can't attend the funeral. I sense that her nurturing and passion is lived in all Steve does for those of us connected in Fire Service. Y prayers are with you.

Everyone called her Helen but she was our cousin Joanie.. Growing up in the same two decker on Norfolk Ave, Joanie was part of our lives. From making our Halloween costumes when we were young to being godmother to my son Ben She never forgot to send a card to us for every holiday and she always would ask how the kids are doing and of course how are the dogs !
May you rest in peace Joanie.
Steve, Chris, and Mike and families your Mom will be missed all of our love and...
